The revamped Google TV, unofficially dubbed Google TV 2.0, is here and, while it's a big improvement over the first version, it hasn't set the world on fire either.

But Google is all about iteration so, a short while after the big update, Google is now providing new versions of two important apps in Google TV, the YouTube app and the Photos app.

The additions are small, but they are an improvement and if Google continues to shell out small new features and updates every couple of weeks, Google TV could slowly become something to brag about.

The big new feature in the new YouTube app is playlist support. You can now go straight to your subscriptions and check out what's new from the channels that you follow on the site. You can also access the standard YouTube playlists, Watch Later and Favorites.

"So whether you’re a newshound wanting a constant stream of world events or you’re a curator in search of an even more endless summer of content, you can sit back on your comfy couch and enjoy YouTube’s thousands of options in the High Definition brilliance of your Google TV," Google explained.

The Photos app has also gotten an update. There is now a feature, Discover, which makes a lot of sense on a TV.

It streams a random slideshow of your photos, from your online accounts, a great way of showing off your pics without navigating all the albums and discovering some of your older photos.

"Discover creates an animated and constantly changing collage using photos from the albums you have uploaded online and synced with your Google TV," Google wrote.

"When you click on one of the photos in Discover, you go straight to the album where you can start a slideshow or simply view other photos in the album," it added.
