When talking about the search box

Although it has been seen in the past by some users out there, a new Google feature is now globally available: the search box is automatically adjusted for all longer queries entered by the users. Let's do a simple test: go over to Google and type Softpedia. Press "Search" and analyze the length of the search box.

As you can see, there's nothing new here. However, if you type a longer query like I did, you can see the expanded box. So, go back and type "Softpedia - A library of over 500000 free and free-to-try software programs for Windows, Unix/Linux, Mac, Mobile Phones, Games and Drivers" and press Search. The search box gets automatically adjusted in order to allow the searcher to read a larger part of the query.

Some people may found the update quite useful, although there are a lot of consumers who requested a search box that would be able to expand as they type. And yes, this would be useful indeed, but imagine a search query that has more than 100 characters? It wouldn't be great anymore.

Sure, there are several deals to deal with this kind of search operation and maybe Google will think about it. For example, just like Philipp Lenssen from Google Blogoscoped suggested, Google can adjust the search box in order to automatically expand it on multiple rows once a user enters a longer query.

However, keep in mind that Google only searches the web for up to 32 words in a query, so in case you're one of those guys who would like to enter two hundred words in order to find a certain comment on a blog, you can't do it. Just type a few words and Google will do its best to give you the link you want.
