Most of the Internet users are probably using YouTube for watching videos featured on the Web. But this doesn't stop Google from offering users their own video product, simply dubbed Google Video. The product is actually the Mountain View's free Video sharing website and video search engine, and it has recently received a new update.

On 13th of June 2007, Google announced that its Google Video search engine was going to index videos discovered by their search crawlers on other hosting services, other than the ones found on YouTube. The recent update lets users searching videos on Google Video enjoy the videos that are already playing, without interrupting them by search results. Users will be able to go to the next page of results or reformulate a query, while still viewing their favorite videos. In addition to that, Google Video also plays videos online, from other popular video sites, thus increasing the number relevant search results.

Unfortunately, the news about Google Video's player isn't all good. It appears that Google has decided to remove their video player from search results, meaning that users will not be able to view videos directly from the search results page. The decision came along with Google's announcement of experimenting with ways of improving their search results experience.

Still, Google is probably hard at work on improving their Google Video and users should expect YouTube features, like playlists, to be featured on Google's own product. The YouTube Fast Search was announced on April 2008, as a web application that could allows users to create their own YouTube video playlists. The playlist couldn't be saved to a user's profile account and didn't allow the import of an existing playlist. But maybe Google's future upgrade of its Google Video will enable these features for its users.
