A year ago, Google just launched its first mobile text ad service in Japan. Since then, profit has gone up to 1 billion $. The company looks for any profitable way of using the search engine, as the need for information is increasing nowadays, especially for the most active people. Information such as driving directions, product prices, weather forecast or email is offered by Google Mobile just as they would be on the PC. Even more, this service provides maps, blogger, news and search results.

Deep Nishar, product management director for Google's mobile offerings has declared himself to be extremely satisfied by the evolution of the mobile phone concept of the search engine. Still, he was reserved when it came to future developments of the concept, or to possible fields for Google's expansion. All services offered by Google mobile are free. The cost of using this service is made up only of taxes to the cellular internet provider for the time spent online or for any downloaded data. Mobile ads are 18-character long and appear as a search result on the user's mobile phone.

The Google search option is available in the two Japan's leading mobile phone companies: NTT DoCoMo and KDDI Corp, that account for 84% of the mobile internet market.
