Testing the quality also easier to do

It was just yesterday when rumors of Google readying itself to bid for Ebay's Skype hit the market. Realizing what this could mean for Android, Yahoo decided to step up its game a notch.

Ok, that is a little exaggerated. Or a little more than that, anyway. Because it's just a rumor, because Yahoo has had the update being worked upon for some time now and because, well, it's just too out there to believe the series of coincidences as a premeditated chain of events. But they are weird coincidences, the Skype thing and the very next day Yahoo! announcing the new audio update to its services.

The Yahoo! Voice website has suffered some readjustments and changes to make it even easier to check rates and even test the quality of a real PC-to-Phone call for free, if you're not really voice-user savvy. Adepts of the old saying that "seeing is believing," the team over at the Sunnyvale based company is adjusting it for the more suited for their needs "hearing is believing." For a while now the Yahoo! IM users have been able to call toll free numbers from their PC for free, but with the recent changes a "Test A Free Call" feature was added to the website. So choose your free call wisely, make it to the Vatican or somewhere really important. Just kidding.

"We've also made it easier to check calling rates. Go to http://voice.yahoo.com/ and on the right side of the page you'll see a box that says "Check low rates to anywhere in the world". Select the country you're interested in calling and our Phone Out rate calculator will instantly show you the rates for calls made from your home country (ex. U.S. to India)," says Sarah Bacon, Product Manager.

Are you considering that free call yet?
