iGoogle has just received some brand new goodies from its parent company: artist themes. From now on, fans of Coldplay, Dolce and Gabbana or Jackie Chan can personalize their own iGoogle page with special artist themes brought to them straight by Google. It already provided a number of iGoogle themes, but none of them was especially created to honor artists from all over the world, so the Mountain View company released approximately 70 new interfaces related to musicians, actors, photographers and even painters.

"Today, Google is very proud to announce the launch of a global collaboration with almost 70 artists who have created unique, dynamic iGoogle themes for our users. Some of the world's best known painters, musicians, actors, designers, photographers and more participated in this initiative, including Australian names such as Anne Geddes, Akira Isogawa, John Butler, Missy Higgins, Reg Mombassa, Michael Leunig, Rolf Harris, Ken Done and even The Wiggles," Julian Sonego, Consumer Marketing Manager, wrote on the official Google Australia Blog.

According to Wikipedia, the artist themes were first spotted on April 9, 2008 when iGoogle placed a link on the main page, but removed it after a few minutes.

As you can see in the pictures attached to the article, the new themes look pretty well, no matter if we're talking about Lance Armstrong or Jackie Chan. If you want to apply one of the newly-released themes, all you need to do is to click on the "Get artist themes" link placed near the "Select themes" and "Add stuff" buttons.

iGoogle, previously known as Google Personalized Homepage, was launched in May 2005 and got its current name on April 30, 2007. Since its official launch date, iGoogle has received several major updates, such as multiple languages support and multiple theme improvements.
