Mountain View-based Internet giant Google has just announced that a new experience is available for iPhone or Android-powered device owners who are fond of accessing weather information on their devices.

According to the company, the changes were meant to provide users with a more fun way to find the info that interests them, while also providing them with an app-like experience, even if one would search for weather straight on the browser on the mobile phone.

“We’d been wanting to build a fun, useful, app-like way to display weather information on our search results pages in the mobile browser,” Nick Fey, User Experience Designer and Michael van Ouwerkerk, Software Engineer, note in a post on the Google Mobile Blog.

“So we pulled together a user experience designer and team of engineers and built a new weather search results snippet that lets you actually play with the results. To try it out, just go to google.com on your iPhone or Android-powered device and search for ‘weather’.”

All the content that was previously displayed to users would be there, including current conditions and a forecast for the next few days, the said post continues.

However, following the new changes, users can now access more info on the weather conditions for the next 12 hours.

“But by moving the slider over the next 12 hours, you can now see a detailed hour-by-hour breakdown of the changing weather conditions,” the blog post reads.

According to Google, users should also pay attention to details on a series of other factors, including temperature, wind speed and humidity, as they would learn how these conditions would change across the day.

At the same time, they note that the background image would change throughout the day too. To access the regular web search results for a query, one would simply have to scroll down.

The new changes are available only in English for the time being, but more might become available in the future.
