Because most of its services offer a single but powerful function, some of the solutions were improved with gadget support to add even more features. Let's take for example Google Desktop: it is a downloadable application that was meant to expand the search engine power into the offline area by allowing users to search for files into their computers. So, Google Desktop provides a single function - file searching - but with the gadget support you can add even more tiny utilities like clocks, date, weather information and many others.
The search giant provides gadget support for a lot of products developed by the company such as Google Personalized Homepage, Google Page Creator and Google Desktop. Some time ago, I wrote an article about an interesting downloadable application designed by Mesa Dynamics that helps you convert Google's gadgets into Windows Vista Sidebar add-ons or to Mac OSX Dashboard Widgets. Today, the employees of the company published a message on Google's blog to announce the availability of the tool and to provide more details about it.
"Mesa Dynamics offers a free widget converter application called Amnesty Generator which converts Google Gadgets to Mac OS X Dashboard Widgets. On February 2nd, they announced a public beta release that's capable of converting Google Gadgets to Windows Vista Sidebar Gadgets as well. This increases distribution of Google Gadgets further and gives gadget authors access to an even wider audience. In addition to Amnesty Generator, Widgetops Universal Google Gadget Widget is a Mac OS X Dashboard Widget that converts Google Gadgets to run on the dashboard," Dann Lee, Associate Support Engineer, sustained on the official blog of the company.
