The OTA update for the tablets was also launched

If you’re the owner of a Nexus 7 (2012 & 2013) or Nexus 10 tablet, you probably have already heard the good news.

Google has started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update for the tablet, so you should expect to receive a notification on your slate, alerting you the new software has made it onto your tablet.

Well, users that have their devices rooted or running on a custom ROM will not be able to upgrade via an OTA update.

The solution is downloading the respective factory images and flashing them to their device manually. The factory images can be used to return the device to a factory state.

This is now doable, because Google has posted these files on its official Nexus Devices page, so you can go on and download them from there.

It’s interesting to note that this year, Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop refresh cycle happened a little differently. Usually, Nexus and Google Play devices receive Android’s latest and greatest first, but that was not the case in 2014.

Oddly enough, Motorola’s unlocked 2014 Moto G and Moto X smartphones were first in line to get a taste of Google’s new dessert flavors.
