To reduce the environmental impact

The Mountain View company is finally the partner of its famous rivals including Microsoft, Intel, IBM and Dell, some companies that were never regarded as potential friends for Google. However, it seems that there is only one purpose than can bring them together: the environmental measures meant to reduce the impact over the Earth's resources. Google and the other partners created the Climate Savers Computing Initiative, an interesting initiative to fight for the good of the planet.

"Believe it or not, a typical desktop PC wastes over half the power delivered to it - and, when turned on, most desktops waste power - even when they're not in use. Through some very simple measures, there is an opportunity to save 70-80% of the power currently consumed by desktop computers," Bill Weihl, Green Energy Czar, tried to explain their campaign.

This campaign is somehow similar to the one announced by Yahoo some time ago when the Sunnyvale company said that it wants to fight for the green color of our planet. "And as with Climate Savers, we hope to set an example as well as use the convening power of Google to further more environmental initiatives," the Google employee added.

Google, as one of the largest companies in the world and the owner of the best search engine, has an important role in this alliance as it is able to attract an important number of upholders for their purpose. Obviously, the ones that are targeted by the Mountain View company are the fans of the search giant that can be found in every corner of the world.

Some time ago, it was reported that Google's white background uses a considerable amount of power from the monitors of every user who accesses the search engine. However, I'm sure that Google doesn't plan to change the color of the website's background as most of the visitors are already used to the clean white and another one would send the users to other technologies.
