Because Google is one of the top web companies, most users expect a 100 percent uptime with no downtimes and without huge loading times obviously caused by bad Internet connections. However, according to the latest reports published by Pingdom - The Uptime Company, Google has an impressive over-99 percent uptime with only 3 downtime minutes in Brazil. The Swedish flavor of Google recorded 48 minutes of unavailability being placed on the 32nd position. The Romanian version of Google was down only 27 minutes while the main Google Search, the US one, reported a disappointing 31-minute downtime.

According to Pingdom, the average downtime of all 32 websites is 23 minutes in one whole year but keep in mind that this report was started on September 1, 2006 and ended on September 1, 2007.

"It is interesting that several countries not traditionally associated with a good internet infrastructure ended up in top positions with very little downtime. Notable examples are Brazil, India, Thailand and Mexico," Pingdom mentioned in the report. "Sweden on the other hand has a reputation for being one of the forerunners on the internet, so it is very surprising to find the Swedish Google Search at the bottom of the list."

What's most interesting in this report is that among the first 10 countries with the lowest donwtimes, only two nations are European-based, Netherlands and France, while the others come from different continents. In case you didn't hear, the Mountain View company plans to expand its offering into Europe and become one of the top search engines on the content since it is already the leader in the United States.

As you can see from the picture attached to the article, no Google search engine recorded an uptime below 99.99 percent which is really good as the folks from Pingdom noted.
