To be or not to be?

A few weeks ago we were talking about Microsoft's reaction should Google decide to launch a product on the already operating system market.

Since then, Google has done some more interesting moves, by launching applications, such as Google Desktop and Google Talk. We can only expect that in the future, the Internet searching company will launch similar applications, which have something in common with searches, but go much further than that.

The way in which the applications Google keeps launching complete each other and sometimes even depend on each other represents an obvious clue that Google has more in mind than a regular collection of applications, but an ensemble that will change the way in which we interact with the Internet.

It's true that each program taken separately is not the most advanced, nor the best in its category, but the fact that aside from Google Desktop, you can also read you e-mail with GMail, view images with Picasa, communicate with Google Talk, search the Internet with Google Toolbar, view videoclips with Google Video Viewer, does point out that Google is starting to cover a broad range of PC applications.

What's missing? A Google browser and a suite of applications similar to Microsoft Office.

Perhaps those who think that in 2010 we might install a Google OS on our systems are not hallucinating. The signs exist!
