Google is number one and you know it. That's why you're probably asking what's wrong with the title. Well, I'm talking about China where the Mountain View company struggles to expand its solutions and become the leader of the country in the detriment of Baidu. At a recent conference, the Google CEO Eric Schimdt said the search giant will become the leader of the Chinese market in the future but we'll have to wait a little bit longer than we expected. According to Webwereld, the Google official said the company is quite competitive in China and can challenge Baidu anytime.

"Although it does not appear we are number one in the market, it looks like we are now in a situation where we are quite competitive," Eric Schmidt, Google's chairman and CEO, said according to the same source. "It's a very good start and although we don't think that this will result in an immediate huge success, we think that the tenacity of Google ... will bring significant victories in China over the next few years."

Google always tried to expand its products into China but every time it faced a powerful opposition from the local leader Baidu that is often described as the Chinese Google. However, the Mountain View company now tries a different strategy: it wants to evolve slowly and uses new offices bundled with Chinese flavors of its products that can lure the local consumers to the company. In addition, more and more Google services are offering the Chinese language such as YouTube, the famous video sharing platform.

But Baidu is not going to recognize Google's supremacy anytime soon. And this is proved especially by the recently-announced Baidu plans that sustain the Chinese company is looking to evolve into Europe, a market that is clearly led by the search giant Google.
