This year could mark the launch of the very last smartphone in the popular Google Nexus lineup, and everybody is curious to learn more on what this device might look like when made official.

Google and its hardware partners are tight lipped on this one, yet people are already dreaming of possible device setups that will be announced later this year.

Among them there’s one coming from Deviantart, suggesting that the upcoming Nexus phone could easily include a QWERTY keyboard, or even a gamepad.

Designed by Giuseppe Avanzato and Enrico Vicari, the concept phone sports looks similar to those seen on Nexus 5 last year, at least when it comes to the front.

However, the concept device, called Google Nexus P3, is accompanied by three different interchangeable modules, which allow users to add a QWERTY keyboard to it, a gamepad, or a secondary 4700 mAh battery.

As PhoneArena notes, each of these fits in a slide-out slot, while the gamepad resembles a lot the Xperia Play smartphone that Sony launched a few years back.

The specs list of this Nexus concept is by no means out of the ordinary, and it might easily make it inside the actual Nexus 6 handset.

Thus, we can expect it to feature a 5-inch touchscreen display, a 12-megapixel camera on the back, a 2MP front camera, and stereo speakers for a better audio experience.

For the time being, however, take this Nexus P3 as it is, namely the product of users’ imagination, which means that it might never see the light of day, at least not in this form.

Should a new Nexus smartphone be in Google’s books for this year, we’ll certainly hear more on it in the coming months, as it might become official sometime during fall, the same as the latest devices in the series. In the meantime, have a look at the images with the Nexus P3 concept phone.
