Look at all the pretty animals?.

A most interesting mashup presented today by the Google Maps Mania blog is one that allows you to track a bunch of animals. Well not a lot, but you can use the tracker for observing the routes of polar bears, turtles, elephants, penguins and whales.

I'm sure anyone would love to see the migration of the animals in the comfort of his own home but it doesn't really compare to the real thing. Trust me. I haven't been there but I've spoken to people who might have considered the option. Ok, so I'm not such a reliable source when it comes to going somewhere and seeing stuff, I'm way too lazy for that. But Google Earth can and was used for this purpose (the looking at animals strolling through the wild part, not the "way too lazy" part) and now Google Maps is being used for the same educational/ entertainment purposes.

The site is really nice and it's worth at least looking at: http://www.loveearth.com/uk/tracking. I'm not really sure why tracking a turtle would enrich my overall life experience but I just clicked it so I'm about to find out about the small circles it swims in or something like that. Thrilled about it, needless to say. When will the interesting animals get the tracking collar on? I want to see someone tranquilize a cheetah and then hold it till it wakes because it can't get the goddamn collar to fit. That should be interesting, I mean I'd probably watch that although it'd be like a bad movie, when you can always guess its ending.

Or holding down a lioness while playing with her cubs and putting the collar around their scrawny little necks. That would most definitely be awesome to watch. But hey, elephants are so much fun. "I'll remember you after you're dead" seems to be the only malevolent thing they can be capable of. Oh, that and the stumping.
