Google Maps was recently improved with multiple locations, the parent company including fresh imagery with detailed roads, buildings and cities. However, the Mountain View-based company didn't announce the update officially, Google Earth Blog reported that high-resolution photos are now available for Russia, Turkey, Taiwan, Thailand, Croatia, Slovenia, Lithuania and Estonia. Although some of them are not presenting anything new, Moscow is one of the improved areas because Google Maps now allows higher zoom for more high-quality pictures.

"This is a lot of new coverage! Not sure yet whether this means directions are available for all these countries. Russia, for example, has some new major roads, and big cities have down to smaller streets - but, other cities are still missing street-level data. I did notice that Moscow even has building outlines in the city (although not the new 2.5D buildings like in the US). Also, they probably do not have "Local Business" search available. But, Google has been adding more data on a global basis at a prodigious rate," Google Earth Blog reported.

A few days ago, Google Earth, the downloadable application that provides almost the same functions as Google Maps, was improved with two new layers that allow users to view the structures of the most famous US buildings. Yesterday, it was reported that the same program offers more than 1 million pictures provided by Panoramio, enabling users to view high-resolution photos of certain areas. Although the future might be a little bit more difficult for both Google Earth and Google Maps as other companies plan similar programs, the search giant's employees are keeping up the good work and are improving the solutions periodically. If you want to download Google Earth for Windows, you can take it straight from Softpedia.
