Google announced yesterday the availability of a new device from the Google Mini series which allows companies to use Google's search power for intranets and websites.

The device suited for 50,000 document searches completes the existent lineup with 100,000, 200,000 and 300.000 file models.

According to an announcement made by Google, the only changes suffered by the latest Google Mini model are capacity and price, the performance remaining identical. In addition, according to the Mountain View company, the capacities of the devices can be improved.

The price for the new Mini is $1,995, which also includes 1 year of customer support. Beside appliances for small enterprises, Google also has a solution for large corporations, priced at $30,000 and has a capacity of up to 500,000 documents.

According to vnunet.com, although Google hopes that its brand recognition will boost the company to the first place, Robert Lerner, a senior analyst at Current Analysis, says that Google is trailing behind dedicated providers, such as Autonomy.

"Autonomy is doing well and still understands the market better than Google," Lerner told vnunet.com.
