While some take their weekends off for some well-deserved peace and relaxation, Google developers keep themselves busy updating the Chrome channels with new Stable, Beta, and Dev builds.

It is the case with Google’s latest update to Chrome, which now includes a new version of the Adobe Flash Player plugin with security fixes.

All three Chrome channels - Stable, Beta, Dev - are listing updated builds as immediately available for download.

Karen Grunberg, Jason Kersey, and Anthony Laforge do their bit to inform fans of the open source application that Chrome 11.0 Stable, 12.0 Beta, and 13.0 Dev have been updated to include the new fix from Adobe.

The Stable channel is now at version 11.0.696.77, followed by the Beta at 12.0.742.82, and Dev with a version number of 13.0.782.10 for all supported platforms, including Mac OS X.

Over at the official Adobe website, a security bulletin detailing the Flash bug can be found.

The vulnerability in question is labeled “important” - not a standard designation for security bugs, but certainly one that translates into high-risk.

“This universal cross-site scripting vulnerability (CVE-2011-2107) could be used to take actions on a user's behalf on any website or webmail provider, if the user visits a malicious website,” Adobe’s software engineers inform.

“There are reports that this vulnerability is being exploited in the wild in active targeted attacks designed to trick the user into clicking on a malicious link delivered in an email message,” the developers write.

Affected Flash versions include Adobe Flash Player 10.3.181.16 and earlier versions for Macintosh, Windows, Linux and Solaris, as well as Adobe Flash Player 10.3.185.22 and earlier versions for Android.

In other words, if you have these versions installed, you need the new Adobe Flash Player 10.3.181.22 (10.3.181.23 for ActiveX) to stay on the safe side.

Softpedia readers can download the new Google Chrome builds with the updated Flash plugin using the link below. The second link serves those who want to patch up the Flash Player installation on their Mac.
