Funny suggestions offered by the search engine

Google's suggestion feature provides some interesting search queries that might change a user's life: find a girlfriend/boyfriend or even how to obtain a flat stomach. I know, I know, it is a little bit funny; but if Google says so, it must be really true. Philipp Lenssen from Google Blogoscoped found some interesting suggestions displayed for the "how to get a"-phrase, the Mountain View-based company encouraging users to search for passports, girlfriends, boyfriends and even a flat stomach. As I've already said, Google's suggestions are not quite the most efficient on the Internet, because the technology provides quite uncanny results.

The numbers are at least amazing: 148.000.000 results concern the "how to get a girl"-phrase, while 128.000.000 pages refer to "how to get a guy". However, you can still find out how to get a book published with 54.100.000 results or even how to get a flat stomach using the 1.560.000 websites.

Earlier this day, I wrote an article about the Did you mean feature provided by Google that encourages users to search for the "He invented" phrase even if they type "She invented". Now, the suggestions provided by a Google Labs product are quite funny and are also revealing a different part of the search technology. In fact, I'm not sure if there's any problem with the Google search engine as the suggestions are offered using the old queries made by the users bundled with the number of results.

At this time, the suggestion feature is just a part of the Google Labs, a testing platform that allows the company to test the products before they are released as a final version. And from these funny search suggestions we can see why we need a testing platform...
