Blogger outage last night

The very popular blogging service Blogger was affected by a serious problem that caused the product to become unavailable for approximately one hour. The interesting fact is that the Mountain View company didn't announce the outage, so I guess everybody was surprised when the blogging technology became inaccessible. The downtime affected all the blogs hosted on Blogger, including the ones owned by Google and a visit on any of the affected websites returned you a simple error: "Server Error - The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request. Please try again in 30 seconds."

According to Google Blogoscoped, a post published on the Google Groups support forum by a Blogger engineer confirmed the product's downtime: "Blogger and Blog*Spot are currently down and unavailable. Engineers are working to bring things back up, and should have everything working again in the next few minutes. Sorry for the outage."

After one hour of unavailability, the Mountain View company managed to fix the blogging service and brought everything back to normal. "Blogger and Blog*Spot had an unexpected outage for an hour this morning, starting around 7AM PDT. As of 8AM, all but a few blogs are working properly again. We apologize profusely for this interruption in service," a message posted on Blogger Status - the page that tracks the status of the blogging service - states.

Blogger is quite a top solution at the Googleplex because millions of users host their own blog using the Google technology. If you never tried it, you should know that Blogger provides numerous useful tools and, what's more important is that it works very close with AdSense, the advertising platform that allows you to earn money with ease. Also, you can control your AdSense account straight from the Blogger interface, which allows you to configure all the settings of the advertising solution.
