Of course, it doesn't like the judge, you'll say, who does it? But even if the company wants to avoid going to the court, it was forced to do so because the Mountain View giant was sued by numerous firms for all sorts of reasons. Some time ago, it was sued by Copiepresse, one of the largest Belgian publishers, for uploading headlines and information on Google News without their authorization. In February, the judge ordered Google to remove all the data taken from Copiepresse but allows the search giant to appeal the decision.

Today, the Mountain View officials said that they will appeal the decision but they will also require the extension of the period granted for negotiations. Copiepresse agreed, the two companies even signing a deal in May that allows Google New to publish the information provided by the Belgian publications.

"If you want to keep open the ability to appeal, you have to lodge an appeal by a certain date," said Google spokeswoman Rachel Whetstone according to MarketWatch. "We're having discussions with Copiepresse and we're pleased to be discussing with them, let's see what happens."

As you might know, the two companies signed a deal that allows the search giant to publish news from Copiepresse but only for a certain day because the older articles will be sold by the Belgian publication. "The two parties will ask the judge to delay the calendar of the appeal to allow for negotiations," added Copiepresse Secretary-general Margaret Boribon, according to the same source.

Copiepresse was not the only company that accused Google News for its functionality because a lot of firms attacked the search giant on topics related to the news product. If you didn't know, Google News receives information from approximately 4500 sources and publishes the original title and a short description of the official page. However, all the articles are redirecting the users to the original author of the article, representing an important source of traffic.
