Problems with new Nokia upgrade

The Mozilla browser that Nokia used for the upgrade of its Linux based Internet Tablet is less reliable than people might think. An error has just been detected with its capability of handling Google's AJAX based Google Docs.

The most recent firmware upgrade release for the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet adds considerable improvements, such as an updated Flash Player. Moreover, it takes care of some bugs with the SDHC (SD High Capacity) memory cards. There is also great improvement with the native Skype client, among others.

The new upgrade brings Mozila browser for viewing web pages. Those who find themselves to be more fond of the Opera alternative will see a great issue in the fact that the solution that Nokia chose already has problems in getting the work done and shows errors.

Nokia already plans some close operating system releases for its Internet tablet, including the code-named Chinook and its successor, code-named Diablo. "The plan is to have by Diablo a set of improvements in the application manager that would make software updates seamless to end users. We could then push bug fixes and feature upgrades without waiting for a next IT OS release", said the developer.

For many people, it might be quite a big issue to have the Mozilla browser crash when trying to open Google Docs. Still, it's a less important situation if this should be the only problem with the browser. There is one advantage found with the softwares new version, as GMail works much better and proves to be more reliable than with other such applications.

The problem also rests in the great differences between an Internet Tablet and a real PC. There is no possible way for them to react the same, which also explains the errors that it might bring.
