Google Desktop, the downloadable application provided by the search giant, gets another version that makes it compatible with Mac OSX. According to Google, Google Desktop for Mac requires OS 10.4+ so, if you have any of the previous editions of Mac OSX, you?re not able to run the program. Generally, the downloadable tool allows users to search the computers for certain files or information directly from the desktop of the system. Although Google Desktop was released by the company to help it expand the power of the search engine into the offline area, the Mac version is somehow useless because this kind of system already owns Spotlight, a similar utility that searches the computer.

However, Google released the Mac version of the Desktop application and made it available for free but it seems the installation is more difficult than I thought. Of course, it?s not my fault because the download link on the official page of Google Desktop for Mac is broken and returns a 404 Error - Not Found. If you still want to download the application, you can take it from Softpedia, also available for free, using this link.

As you might know, Google Desktop is one of the applications designed by the search giant that are able to work with gadgets, tiny tools able to enhance the functionality of a service with one more function. At this time, Google Desktop works as a really widget application because it allows users to customize the appearance and the functionality of their desktop using numerous tools designed by both users and employees. In the past, Google revealed several contests to attract clients to design their own gadgets, all the creations being published on this link.
