After it became one of the top brands in the United States, Google plans an enthusiastic conquest in Europe which is supposed to bring lots of new employees for the Mountain View-based firm. The Financial Times writes that only 500 of 7000 engineers hired by Google are in Europe so a new conquest will boost this number to thousands. In order to support this move, Google already hired an engineering vice-president for Europe in the person of Nelson Mattos who will work at the Zurich center. This is an exciting expansion plan especially for the super giant Google which is not a top European player although it has no less than 12 research centers all around the Europe.

"Given the enormous computer science talent available in these countries there's great potential to develop new products locally which can help improve people's lives everywhere," says Alan Eustace, senior vice president of technology and research at Google, according to PC Pro.

In the recent period, numerous companies tried to expand their offering into Europe because no Internet giant ever planed to attract this side of the world with their web-based technologies. From all the super giants which aimed to conquer Europe, Baidu was the only one which was supposed to bring a search engine on the continent so the old Chinese duel, Google vs. Baidu, might be moved in another area. However, the new Google vice-president for Europe has enthusiastic plans.

"I am excited about the opportunity of using the great brains we have here to develop product in the region not just for EMEA, but the rest of the world too. Our engineers in Europe, Russia and Israel are already working on a range of important different areas - from maps and search quality to advertising and mobile - and we're looking forward to doing even more in the future," he said for PC Pro.
