The Google Chrome developers at Google proudly announced last evening (May 17th) the immediate availability for download and testing of the first development version for the upcoming Google Chrome 13 web browser, for Linux, Windows, Macintosh and Chrome Frame platforms.

The main change in the new Google Chrome 13.0.767.1 for Linux operating system is that it will no longer support the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron) distribution. This is because Canonical stopped supporting Ubuntu 8.04 LTS on April 28th, 2011.

"We are discontinuing support for Ubuntu Hardy for 13.0, in effect matching that Ubuntu has officially stopped supporting Hardy (including stopping security updates) as of May 12th, 2011." - was stated by the Google Chrome developers in the official release announcement.

Among other changes we can mention that the Print Preview function works continues now, and Omnibox string matching received some improvements. Moreover, some users reported that support for GPU accelerated 2D canvas has been dropped in Google Chrome 13.0.

There are of course some additional changes that can be viewed in the svn log of all revision.
