Checkout will be unavailable due to maintenance

The Independence Day is a holiday celebrated in multiple corners of the world, not necessarily in the United States. However, the Mountain View company Google is also enjoying this free day and announcing nothing more than a... downtime. Yes, you've heard it right, Google prepares some maintenance periods for its solutions in order to check if anything goes wrong and to fix the potential problems. Checkout is the "lucky" product that will become unavailable just after the Fourth of July for approximately 60-90 minutes.

"Google Checkout will be unavailable for approximately 60-90 minutes as we conduct server maintenance. During this time, the Google Checkout button will not appear on merchant websites, and merchants will be unable to process orders or log in to their Google Checkout account. Please note that any orders received prior to this scheduled maintenance won't be affected," Don Faul, Manager, Google Checkout Operations, said today.

However, there are some of the Google employees that plan to celebrate the event with hot dogs and fireworks as the Americans used to do on the Independence Day. "We'll be taking the day off here at Inside AdWords to celebrate the 231st birthday of the United States of America. Here's to a Happy 4th of July filled with hot dogs, picnics, and of course, fireworks!" the folks from Inside AdWords said.

Every once in a while, Google employees are scheduling maintenance periods because it is very important to try and fix the potential problems before they happen. Anyway, some of these downtimes may have a negative impact over the customers because some of them are unable to use the product exactly when they need it. In our case, Checkout is even more important because some of the merchants might lose money and clients.
