Google recently signed a deal with Volkswagen to provide them Search Appliance for their new version of the website. As you can see if you visit the newly designed webpage, the interface is quite amazing and, according to the Google employees, the search engine is powered by the Mountain View company. Kevin Gough, Sr. Product & Marketing Manager, sustained they helped Volkswagen to redesign their website by providing the Search Appliance, an enterprise service that helps businesses search the Internet and the local company using Google's power.

"The site search is powered by a Google Search Appliance and they've done a lot of cool UI development so that you can see the most frequently searched for terms as well as search results in an expanding drop down window, without leaving the homepage of the site. Besides being a slick design, putting me in control of the site made me think that VW probably applied the same user-centric approach to designing their cars and made the site feel less marketing-y and more education focused," the Google employee explained the implementation of the Search Appliance.

At a first glance, the new design of Volkswagen's website is absolutely amazing, providing instant access to most of the information provided by the company. As you can see, the entire page is based on the cars produced by the firm and offers you a lot of details concerning them. The implementation of the search engine is quite useful because it returns the most popular searches in a drop-down menu, somehow similar to the Blogger tags that help you find certain categories of posts. This way, the searcher is able to click on a keyword and get the results without typing the word in the search box.
