Google targets Spain with new Campus plans

Google Campus is heading to Spain, the company announced, and the new location is set to open next year.

The company explains that since Google began as a startup in a garage, supporting startups remains an important part of the company’s DNA. “We continually see that when people are empowered to dream big and are empowered to take action, that entrepreneurs turn those ideas into growing companies, creating a powerful startup community, solving big problems, and supporting a thriving economy,” says the company’s director of Google for Entrepreneurs, Mary Grove.

Therefore, opening a Campus in Madrid came as a natural step for the company who believes this will be a new home for innovation in Spain. As you may know already, Google Campuses are spaces where entrepreneurs can learn, connect, and build companies that will, hopefully, one day change the world.

In recent years, the company has opened such locations in London and Tel Aviv, while recent announcements indicate that more such places are going to be opened in Warsaw, Poland, Sao Paulo, Brazil and Seoul, South Korea.

“Entrepreneurs at Campus Madrid will benefit from this global network of Campuses, including our Campus Exchange program, giving entrepreneurs access to other workspaces around the world,” Grove adds.

She states that the Spanish location will run many new programs, including Campus for Moms, CampusEDU, as well as Office Hours with Googler mentors. The company hopes that this will help the already-thriving entrepreneurial spirit in Spain. The Internet giant adds that it is already excited to join the local community in making entrepreneurs even stronger, hoping that Campus Madrid will supercharge tech entrepreneurs, while strengthening the startup ecosystem.

Google also heads for South Korea

As mentioned, Google is also planning on opening such locations in other nations as well, including South Korea. The company was particularly excited about this new location, because it believes that it will be a big step in its growing investment in the future of the country.

At the time of the announcement, Google said that they’ve helped young Korean companies through a host of programs and partnerships including the annual Global K-Startup program, Startup Nations and so on.

“Korean innovators and entrepreneurs are some of the best in Asia and Korean startups are making headlines around the world, especially in the mobile space. We want to support this booming community of entrepreneurs. So it’s with great excitement that we announce that Campus is coming to Seoul!” Google said back in August.
