And it even supports Google Maps

The recent Cingular release of BlackBerry 8800 is even more amazing than we knew it because the handheld device is a result of a deal between the carrier and the search giant Google. Or a sort of an agreement, as the device introduces a new technology built by Google and implemented into a mobile product. For example, the famous Google Maps for Mobile is now compatible with the GPS support offered by the BlackBerry, resulting in a useful technology able to show you your exact location. "For those in the latter camp, you can thank Cingular for launching the BlackBerry 8800, the latest open GPS-enabled device from a major U.S. carrier. That means that when you use Google Maps for mobile, your location automatically shows up on the map," Steve Lee, Product Manager, Google Maps for mobile, says about the two products.

However, the two solutions are even more powerful than that. Basically, the GPS support and the mobile version of Google Maps are making the navigation easier because they automatically recognize your location. For example, if you intend to search for a certain business, you can type only the main term without the address or the zip code. This way, you can search for a place to eat by typing restaurant and let the GPS support find a good bar near you.

"When you download Google Maps for mobile and fire it up, you'll notice something quite unusual: a blinking blue dot showing you exactly where you are! You can use your auto-detected location to get directions and perform local searches without even entering your location -- instead of "pizza 94043", just enter "pizza" -- and we'll automatically know you want pizza in the zip code '94043' ", the Google employee also mentioned.

The newly released BlackBerry 8800 is available to buy straight from Cingular's official page for only $299.99.
