The billboards are now owned by Google

Earlier this day, I wrote an article about Google's last advertising tool which helps publishers manage their offline ads to be published in newspapers. "Now that the Mountain View giant already expanded its offering into newspapers and radio stations, do you think the next step in the evolution is targeting the billboards?" was the last phrase of the article. Well, the answer is provided today when Greg Sterling from Search Engine Land wrote about a Google billboard which advertised the Goog-411 technology. According to the report, the picture was made in upstate New York and represents the first step made by the super giant Google to take the advertising process straight on the street.

The picture was made by Mike Blumenthal, Search Engine Land adding that it might be only a test made by Google which wants to see if this technique really works.

The super giant started the migration into the traditional offline media a long time ago when it signed deals with several US newspapers in order to publish adverts into their pages. After a few weeks, Google made a new step and announced the partnerships with multiple US radio stations which were supposed to play the Google audio ads to the listeners from all around the country.

The most innovative step was the last one which sustained Google wants to take the advertising process straight on the street and publish adverts on billboards and into several US shops. Well, it seems like the Mountain View company is about to reach its goal as the first billboard advert was identified in upstate New York.

But what's more interesting is that Google uses this first billboard to advertise one of its products and not a service powered by an AdWords registered member. In the past, every time Google started a new test, it uses a selected number of users to try the technology, so I'm quite curious to see what happens next.
