Google, this little Sparta, managed to receive no more than 14 awards at the recent Webware event when the Internet users were required to vote for their favorite applications. Obviously, Google has at least one solution for every category, no matter if it's Google Reader, YouTube or Gmail. The voting session was available for 20 days in May and June and required the users to choose their favorite solutions in several categories.

"Over the course of 20 days in May and June, the community of Webware.com users voted for its favorite Web applications. These are the results: the top 100 Web apps, 10 in each of 10 categories, determined by Webware readers and the fans of the sites that made the final cut," it is mentioned in the description of the voting session.

"There were more than 5,000 nominations for sites to be included in this awards program, which Webware's editors pruned to a list of 250 finalists. Users then voted on those finalists--there were 489,467 votes cast--to come up with these: The top 100 Webware sites for 2007."

The first two categories, Browsing and Communications, were led by Google Reader and Gmail. The Data domain that includes tools for finding online info, storing and sharing files is obviously led by the search giant Google that owns the best search engine on the Internet. YouTube is the leader of the Media category while Mobile included no less than three products created at the Googleplex: Gmail Mobile, Maps Mobile and Mobile Search.

The Sunnyvale rival Yahoo is also an important part of the top as it managed to earn awards for Mobile with its oneSearch technology, for Media with Flickr and for Data with its search solution. In addition, Yahoo mail was placed among the best products from the Communications category.

If you want to view the entire list with the winners, you can find it at the Webware official page.
