US Presidential candidates invited to the Googleplex

Google officially announced that it will host several interviews with the US presidential candidates who are all invited at the Mountain View headquarters. Recently, Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator John McCain joined the Google team for an interview that was also posted on YouTube to be commented by its viewers.

"Since all of us -- consumers, businesses, and political leaders -- will have to address those issues in the coming years, we've invited all the presidential candidates to come visit our headquarters in California and share their ideas in town hall-style meetings with our employees," Andrew McLaughlin, Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs, and Elliot Schrage, VP, Global Communications and Public Affairs, sustained today.

Recently, Google debuted CitizenTube, a special YouTube channel that created an interactive communication between the presidential candidates and the users of the service. The procedure is quite simple and attractive: every candidate posts a clip on YouTube that will remain on the first page of the channel for one week. Meanwhile, the users are required to create their own video to reply to the clip and ask questions to the candidate.

Since the release of the channel, numerous viewers were attracted by the videos and posted several clips to respond and communicate with the candidates. With today's move, the search giant makes another important step into the politics market and brings the mass media's attention on the Googleplex. "We're flattered that the other candidates have responded positively to our invitations, and we're working to schedule their visits over the next few months," the Google employees described the upcoming meetings. So, if you want to communicate with the 2008 US Presidential candidates, you should visit YouTube's CitizenTube and look for the videos posted by the senators.
