Today, Google announced the availability of a new flavor of its Google+ app for Android devices, providing users with a nice range of enhancements when it comes to connecting with their friends through its social network.

The new flavor of the Android application arrives on devices with features that include on-the-go profile editing, along with a simpler way to create content on devices.

Furthermore, the new app release will provide users with notifications on the new content that has been posted and which they can read. The app also enables users to subscribe to mobile notifications from your favorite circles.

There are also a series of enhancements related to photos that users are sure to enjoy, including full-size backups of your photos (up to 5GB free), complemented by the standard-size option (unlimited free storage at 2048px).

Users interested in learning how this works will simply have to turn on Instant Upload, and all the photos they snap with the device will be saved to a private album on Google+.

Owners of devices powered by the new Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system will also be able to share photo spheres on the mobile stream, accessible for all handsets running under Android 2.2 Froyo or newer.

The new flavor of Google's Android application also includes Google+ Communities and support for time zones in Events.

Google has added some other enhancements to the Google+ service as well, though they are not exclusive to the mobile application designed for the Android platform.

However, Dave Besbris, vice president of Engineering, Google, did mention in a post on the Google+ blog that Android users would also benefit from new smileys, as well as from support for animated GIFs and birthday reminders in Google Now.

Furthermore, there’s also a lock screen widget included in the new app version, available for all handsets powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or newer operating system versions.

The new Google+ 3.3 for Android application is now available for download through the Google Play store.
