Although it is not quite a Google Office function, it contributes to the functionality of the suite by adding interoperability between Gmail and Google Calendar. The function, codename "Create Event", allows users to schedule events by adding them automatically from the Gmail inbox folder. All you need to do is open a message stored in your account and click on the More actions button displayed above the subject of the mail. The function will open a popup window that will allow users to schedule events and organize them with Google Calendar.

"Gmail offers an easy, convenient way to create events from your inbox. If you're reading an email that contains info you'd like to add to your Google Calendar, just follow the steps," Google describes the feature. However, the function was revealed a long time ago but it seems it is available only for the English/US interface users. According to some comments posted on a Google Blogoscoped article, the function is unavailable for several clients from France and Canada.

In the recent period, Google released a lot of new functions and improvements especially designed to make the Office suite more powerful than the one owned by Microsoft. As you know, the competition is about to get harder as the two companies are planning to challenge one another to attract the same segment of users. However, the Mountain View-based company has the advantage of the online element that allows users to create, share and edit documents using a simple web based interface. Recently, the most important move made by the search giant was the confirmation of the upcoming presentation tool, Presently being regarded as the perfect online alternative for the old fashioned Microsoft PowerPoint.
