The Mountain View-based company wants to make its Office suite more powerful than the one offered by the software giant Microsoft and released a new important set of updates. Among the improved features, Google included the possibility of saving your documents with the .txt extension, allowing you to export the files stored in the Google account to your desktop. This way, you are also able to use your documents offline, edit and upload them back. The new function is available under the File menu displayed when you're trying to edit your document. In addition, you're now able to share documents with multiple contacts as the search giant included the possibility of sharing a file with a mailing list. All you need to do is press the Share button and then enter your desired addresses or just use a contact mailing list saved in your Google account.

"For those of you who write in Hebrew, Arabic, Yiddish, or any other language written and read from right to left, it's now possible to set your document or spreadsheet to support right-to-left text entry," the Google team presented another important update. As you can see, the company added the possibility to write your documents from right-to-left, a characteristic used by the Arabic writers. To enable this new function, you must click on the Style menu and select the "Show right-to-left controls" option.

As you can see, Google really wants to make the Docs & Spreadsheets service more powerful, but I guess everyone is waiting for the presentation tool confirmed by the company. Recently, the search giant confirmed the rumors concerning an upcoming presentation utility that would complete the Office suite and make it able to compete with Microsoft's solution. Google announced that Presently will be released soon, so all we need to do is wait and hope the product will be at least as powerful as PowerPoint.
