Google decided that it's time to enhance the content appearing on the first page of the company and added an iGoogle link to provide instant access to the famous Personalized Homepage. The product was recently upgraded from Google Personalized Homepage to iGoogle although the product was a part of the Google Labs for a long time. Personally, I was able to view the iGoogle link published on the main Google page since last week but the Mountain View company announces the implementation today.

"We launched our first version of the Google personalized homepage in May. It started as a project on Google Labs in response to numerous requests from people who wanted to add at-a-glance info by the Google search box. Today we're thrilled to "graduate" from Labs and add a Personalized Home link on the Google homepage. Though we realize that many love the vanilla Google, there are those who might want to add a few sprinkles," Jessica Ewing, Product Manager, said today.

Google Personalized Homepage was first launched in May 2005 and was described as the perfect replacement for the classic homepage used by the browsers. Basically, the personalized homepage allowed users to customize the appearance and the functionality of the product to adapt them to your needs and get any information you require straight from a single page. That's why the search giant worked on its product and introduced several interesting features such as gadgets, tiny tools that allow users to add new functions to the stand-alone product. Using these utilities, you're now able to read news, communicate using Google Talk and organize your events.

If you want to use iGoogle as your Personalized Homepage, you can use this link to access the service. All you need is a Google account that is also compatible with most of the search giant's products.
