This goes for security software as well

This is an old trick that GFI Software is using, but an efficient one, nonetheless. They've shattered the WebMonitor program into 3 pieces. Of course, each edition of it suits best a certain target. This is a pretty good measure, if you ask me - you don't need some program to eat up a lot of space on your PC to do some stuff you don't need.

The GFI WebMonitor is a real-time hypertext transfer protocol / file transfer protocol monitoring anti-virus and access control. What it actually does is help IT managers control the users' browsing habits and monitor downloads (in real time, of course). It offers Internet access control through web categorization and web filtering and it also protects networks from viruses, spyware, malware and phishing attacks!

If that sounds good to you, you can safely download the 30 day trial from our site.

So, there are three editions of this software: The WebFilter Edition, The WebSecurity Edition and the UnifiedProtection Edition, each of them designed for a certain category of users. For example, the first one - as I've seen on NetworkWorld - contains GFI's WebGrade database categorized websites based on human review, as well as filtering technology that lets administrators block employee access to sites based on their category. The WebSecurity simply allows one admin to control what the normal users can download, by making a blacklist of file types. This one also contains virus-scanners. The UnifiedProtection edition - as it name says it - is something like the first two editions put together plus some other features, such as traffic tracking and not only.

To be honest, I'd go with the third edition mentioned above - the more security measures, the better! Also, if you want to learn more about this you may check out the vendor's website.
