This year, one of Gillian Flynn’s best-selling novels, the dark thriller “Gone Girl,” will be arriving on the big screen thanks to an adaptation directed by David Fincher, also called “Gone Girl.” The first teaser trailer for it is included below.

The thriller stars Ben Affleck as a self-centered journalist, Nick, who moves his family (comprised of himself and wife Amy) to Missouri after he’s fired from his job. When Amy (Rosamund Pike) goes missing and all the evidence points to Nick as the killer, his entire universe, everything that he thought he knew, comes crumbling down.

The first teaser includes very little dialog but goes heavy on the music: Elvis Costello’s “She.” This gives it a rather B-movie feel to the uninitiated but, if you read the original novel, I’m sure you will appreciate the irony in it.

“Gone Girl” will be out on October 3. It also stars Neil Patrick Harris and Emily Ratajkowski, best known as the stunning model from Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” music video.

Director David Fincher’s credits include “The Social Network,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “Zodiac,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Fight Club” and “Se7en,” to name just a few. That alone should be strong enough recommendation for this new film, at least to convince you to give it a try.
