If you follow the world of smartphones, you’re probably familiar with Oppo, an up-and-rising handset manufacturer from China.
Not so long ago the device maker launched what back then was considered the world’s thinnest handset to ever grace the face of the earth. We’re talking about the Oppo R5 which takes advantage of a sleek 0.19-inch / 4.85-mm frame.
At some point, the Oppo R5 showed its face in a commercial where it was shown slashing through an “apple” to highlight its sturdiness. But we all knew that was a metaphor to show the Chinese maker is ready to take on Apple, heads-on.
With this intent in mind, Oppo is preparing something special for the upcoming Cupid holiday, something Apple already did with its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Oppo is putting gold on its flagship
So Oppo is taking its R5 flagship and is gliding it in gold, in order to make it more appealing for customers looking for a more premium device (as seen at Amanz).
However, only the aluminum frame on the phone gets the gold treatment, with everything else staying the same onboard.
If you want more gold on your handset, you’ll probably want to look into the direction of the Huawei Honor 6 Plus which has the full back cover taking advantage of this precious material.
Apart from gold frame, it seems fair to remind you that the R5 arrives with a 5.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and 423 ppi (pixel per density).
Inside the Oppo R5 lies a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, which is a 64-bit chipset. The smartphone also has Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM, so it’s should be quite snappy.
The R5 offers 16GB of internal storage, but sadly lacks a microSD card for memory expansion.
Anyway, it looks like you’ll have to wait until Valentine’s Day in order to be able to pick up the gold Oppo R5, because for the time being the device is nowhere to be seen.
