Sony Hack, Bill Cosby, plastic surgery, ageism – really nothing was off limits, as co-host Tina promised

The 2015 Golden Globes were held hours ago at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California, and were hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, back on board for the third and the last time. Or, as they put it in their opening speech, “welcome to the last Golden Globes ever.”

As per usual, the gala kicked off with an opening skit that would have been a monolog if there had been only one host. It lasted for over 10 minutes and was the longest segment of the night, and perhaps the most fun too.

Tina and Amy have always taken a real pleasure in pointing out disparities in the way the industry treats men and women, just as they love their ageism, sexism and politically incorrect jokes. Last night was no different, as you can see in the video below.

Speaking with the media on Saturday, Tina promised that no jokes would be off limits, even though she and Amy would tread carefully enough so as to not make any of the guests be “afraid” to be in the same room as them.

They definitely kept that promise: the opening skit included jokes about Bill Cosby and how no woman (not even Sleeping Beauty) is safe around him, about the Sony Hack and North Korea’s alleged involvement in it over the “offensive” action comedy “The Interview,” Meryl Streep, George Clooney, and so much more.

As tradition calls, most big names in the room, especially favorites to win, were duly roasted and their movies were mentioned in a more or less serious manner. Usually less.

The speech even included a little game of “who would you rather,” which made some men attending blush, but I assume this was the hosts’ intention.

Enjoy!
