Star wows in Posen, shows “curvy” is relative in Hollywood

2014 in showbiz was all about showing appreciation to the fuller, curvier figure. Thanks to celebrities like Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, Amber Rose or Kim Kardashian, a new type of body started gaining popularity, completely opposed to the once-desirable stick-thin, size 0 figure.

Actress Katherine Heigl isn’t even half as curvy as these ladies, but she considers herself a rarity in Hollywood, one that, accordingly, needs to wear only designer items tailored to her figure. She believes she’s “full,” as she tried to tell E! correspondent Giuliana Rancic at last night’s Golden Globes 2015.

Katherine looked flawless in a dark blue creation by Zack Posen that flattered her figure. She matched it with drop earrings but otherwise understated jewelry, and opted for a dramatic sideswept ‘do in large, natural-looking curls.

So it’s not what she wore that raised eyebrows, but the way she tried to pass herself off for “curvy.”

“He just knows how to do [dresses] for my fuller figure. It's a good fabric. It's like Spanx, [it] just sucks it in,” Heigl managed to say before she got called out by Giuliana, who told her she had no right to call herself that.

If you ever needed proof that “curvy” is a relative term, especially in Hollywood, you will find it in the video below. Just like the industry tends to label Melissa McCarthy “curvy” when she’s clearly overweight, it seems that women like Katherine are now justified (in their own mind) to call themselves full figured.
