This was one of the most talked about gowns of the night

Perhaps one of the most talked about appearances on the red carpet at the Golden Globes 2015, which were held on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and aired live on NBC, was Kate Hudson in a white Versace dress that seemed to defy all logic in the way it clung to her body.

As it turns out, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a creation of this kind from the iconic fashion house.

As you can see in the gallery and video below, Kate walked the red carpet in a gorgeous white gown by Versace, accessorized with jewelry by Forevermark Diamonds, a Jimmy Choo clutch, and Brian Atwood shoes.

The dress featured silver bands on the side that seemed to be the only things keeping it from falling apart, especially since it had an open back as well.

What with how form-fitting it was, the open back, the very low-scooped cleavage, and the open panels on the side, on any other, less toned figure, this design would have been absolutely unforgivable, clinging to every form and creating a very unflattering silhouette.

However, Kate is not your regular mom of two: she works out a lot every day and eats very healthy, and has quite a reputation in the industry for being very toned. She definitely had the body and the right attitude to wear such a bold gown.

Kate’s gown is distant cousin to equally famous Versace dress

In modern pop culture, there are exactly 2 Versace gowns that have become so iconic that they even have their own Wikipedia pages: one is the green dress Jennifer Lopez wore at the Grammy Awards 2000, with the cleavage that went down to her belly-button and had an open back and a slit that went all the way up to her crotch.

The other one is also known as “that dress” or the safety pin dress and was worn by Elizabeth Hurley in 1994, when she accompanied Hugh Grant to the premiere of “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” It was basically an entire dress held together by giant golden safety pins, and it probably inspired the one Kate had on at the Globes.

It’s true, Hurley’s original was much more daring, but Kate’s can’t possibly look good on the average woman either.
