14 DAY TRIAL // Ellen DeGeneres has a lot of fun inserting herself in all kinds of videos, be they TV broadcasts, music videos or movie trailers, so no wonder she did the same with one of the most talked about moments of the Golden Globes 2015 ceremony, George Clooney’s speech upon being presented with the Cecile B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement.
On her most recent show, Ellen told audiences that Clooney’s speech was indeed great and touching, but for her, it did not have the end she thought it would.
She then played footage from the NBC broadcast, showing her sitting at the table, right next to Amal. She was wearing a very dated, ‘90s style dress with a chunky necklace and chandelier earrings because, of course, the Globes are all about showing how big a star you are by decking yourself in diamonds.
At first, Ellen seems to think that George is talking about her when he’s saying all those beautiful things about having had a great year and finding love, so her reaction when he speaks Amal’s name is hilarious. To this day, Ellen is confused as to why producers seated Amal at her table.
