She was hoping to get at least some love for it

Angelina Jolie is very serious about one day moving behind the camera and leaving her acting career in the past. Her second feature film, “Unbroken,” has been getting mostly positive reviews, though critics agree that she’s still a long way to go until she becomes the best director she can be.

With all that, there has been a lot of talk about how “Unbroken” was an Oscar / awards season favorite, all of which proved unfounded when the Golden Globes 2015 nominations were announced and it was nowhere to be seen.

Not only Angelina and the movie were snubbed but the cast as well. So she had no reason to be at Sunday’s awards gala: she was not nominated so she could not look forward to winning, and the film is selling better than expected both domestically and internationally, so it can do without this spot of promo work on her part.

However, that’s not to say that Jolie is ok with being snubbed, insiders reveal for Page Six: apparently, she’s “hurt” and she’s “upset” that the film was overlooked. I’m guessing it’s not just her ego talking either: “Unbroken” was a passion project for her, and she would have probably wanted Louis Zamperini’s inspiring story to get critical acclaim as well.

“A few years ago, she would have been in,” an HFPA insider says for the publication, hinting that Jolie’s star power could have earned her a nomination in the past, even if the movie she’d delivered wasn’t top-quality. After all, she was nominated for “The Tourist” at the same event, so it’s clear that the Globes producers had a vested interest in having her there then.

This year, there were bigger stars in the audience, so Jolie was probably deemed “dispensable.” No word yet on why Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” with Bradley Cooper was also snubbed.
