As far as reactions on social media go, Amal Clooney, nee Alamuddin, was perhaps one of the biggest winners at Sunday’s Golden Globes 2015, which is weird, seeing how she doesn’t even work in showbiz, let alone got nominated for an award at the second-biggest awards ceremony of the year.

Amal is an international human rights barrister and her only tie with showbiz is the fact that she married Hollywood’s number one bachelor, George Clooney, last summer in Venice. The Globes were the first industry event they attended together since they started dating.

And it will be one for the history books annals of celebrity gossip.

Amal makes big entrance on the red carpet, fashion statement

People were talking about Amal from the moment she walked on the red carpet, wearing a gorgeous and very elegant Dior Haute Couture black gown, with a statement cape off-the-shoulder. But they were talking even more about the white elbow-length gloves she had on, which seemed to remind everyone of old-school Hollywood glamour and style.

The moment she and Clooney started doing the rounds, talking to the media as part of the now-usual red carpet ceremony, it became clear that Amal, though looking the part, was definitely not in the moment as most people there.

If anything, she seemed bored and slightly amused by the questions thrown at her, and she would always look to the side and smile distantly, as if she couldn’t wait for this to be over so she could go back to her own, more interesting life.

The Internet, as you can see in the video below, decided that she had every reason to be bored among these vapid, silly, self-congratulatory people, but they praised her for showing composure and walking the fine line between aloof and rude when handling her duties as Clooney’s arm candy.

This was, after all, his big night, the night the Hollywood Foreign Press Association recognized his hard work through the years with the prestigious Cecile B. DeMille Award.

The gala was just as boring

Sadly, things weren’t about to get any more interesting for Amal. Almost every time the camera zoomed in on her, with the only exception being Clooney’s touching acceptance speech when he was presented with said award, she seemed bored out of her mind – and slightly annoyed at the knowledge she had to endure even more of the same.

In a short while, everyone on social media was talking about her perceived state of complete boredom, giving her kudos for not falling into the glittery and deceiving trap that is showbiz, because, obviously, not all that glitters is gold.

Plus, as some of the tweeters below note, it’s not like she really doesn’t lead a much more interesting and challenging life, than hanging out in a room filled with shiny-faced stars dripping in designer clothes and diamonds, patting each other on the back for their achievements in play-pretend.
