When Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, good friends in real life but also amazing and funny whenever they work together, were confirmed as hosts for the Golden Globes 2014, fans at home knew they were in for a ride.

They weren’t off the mark. Hosting the awards show for the second time in a row, the two killed it from the first minutes they were on stage, starting with their opening speech.

As usual, it included mentions of some of the favorites of the night, in both film and television, and the usual harmless jokes about said favorites. Tina and Amy also made a few cracks about how the industry continues to be biased against women, as far as their age and weight are concerned.

They also had a blast by stating the obvious or citing rumors as fact when they spoke of some of the biggest stars in attendance.

“‘Gravity’ is the story of how George Clooney would rather float away in space and die before spending another minute with a woman his own age,” they said at one point. The film ended up winning Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron.

Tina and Amy wrapped up their hilarious speech with, “Let’s get the party started! Ladies, kick off your shoes… gentlemen, try them on and see how horrible they are!” Check it out in full below. You won’t be sorry to have wasted 7 minutes of your time.
