Actor finally gets recognition from the industry for his work in “Wolf of Wall Street”

As fans always say on dedicated forums, it’s time for the industry to finally pay some notice and duly acknowledge perhaps one of the greatest actors of our time, Leonardo DiCaprio. If the Golden Globes 2014 are any indication, we’re on the right path.

Though putting consistently good movies out there, DiCaprio is often snubbed at major awards ceremonies: not in the sense that he rarely wins anything, but that he doesn’t even get nominated.

This year, he got a nod for his work in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” his newest collaboration with Martin Scorsese, for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical category. And he won!

Above is a video of his acceptance speech. DiCaprio doesn’t seem too amused that he’s won for comedy, listing his “comedic” rivals and being extremely gracious about the whole thing. He also thanks his longtime friend and frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese, but also his crew, his family, and his friends.

While DiCaprio’s win has brought hope in the hearts of many fans as to his chances for an Oscar, I could almost wager that the winner in the Drama category, Matthew McConaughey (“Dallas Buyers Club”) has better odds.

We’ll see. In the meantime, here’s DiCaprio being his gracious self. Also, Leo & Marty for ever!
