14 DAY TRIAL // Tina Fey and Amy Poehler promised they would “bring it” at the Golden Globes 2013 and they did nothing short of that. Watch their opening monolog in the video above.
The two hosts started off by cracking jokes at their predecessor, Ricky Gervais, who got himself into too much trouble with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association by mocking celebrities too rudely as host – thrice.
They also poked fun at Anne Hathaway and her Oscars hosting gig, Kathryn Bigelow (who should know a lot about torture because she’s been married to James Cameron for 3 years), Ben Affleck, Mandy Patikin and, last but not least, Daniel Day-Lewis.
Us regular folks might have forgotten but, before he wowed in “Lincoln,” Lewis had worked with Spielberg before and had made just as strong an impression: he was the alien in “E.T.,” the hosts told the audience.
Besides boozing and pill-popping jokes, Tina and Amy also made sure to include plenty of self-deprecating jibes for good measure. Check out their opening monolog above.
