Actress is honored for lifetime achievement, gives confusing but gorgeous speech

As I have already informed you earlier today, Jodie Foster literally stole the show at the Golden Globes 2013 awards ceremony last night, with her speech upon accepting the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement.

Though there can be little doubt that, indeed, Foster confirmed she was gay and announced her retirement from acting, voices online are dubbing it the most confusing acceptance speech ever.

Why would she come out now, after all these years, when she insists privacy is the most important thing to her. Why would she announce she’s done with acting but not say what she’s thinking of doing next – these are the things people are wondering out loud on public forums as we speak.

Yes, Foster’s speech was a bit weird, which qualifies it for the oddest moment of the night.

At the same time, though, it was the most beautiful moment of the gala: honest, touching and inspiring, it did not leave a dry eye in the house.

Heck, by the time she was done, even Robert Downey Jr., who seems to never stop smiling, was visibly emotional.

Check it out above, if you haven’t seen it already – and here’s Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s reaction to Foster’s “coming out.”
