The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announces nominations for the Golden Globes 2012

One day after the nominees for the SAG Awards 2012, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has just announced the nominees for the 69th edition of the Golden Globes, which will air live on NBC on January 15, 2012.

As we also reported a while back, British comedian Ricky Gervais will be hosting again, promising for his third year on the job even more outrage and controversy than in 2011.

The nominations in film were pretty scandal-free, even though there's a lot of buzz in the blogosphere about whether Angelina Jolie was really entitled to a nod in the Best Foreign Film for her directorial debut “In the Land of Blood and Honey.”

It's not that the film is bad, voices are saying, but it's not foreign either, even if it didn't use US actors.

Woody Harrelson got snubbed this year, others are saying. For his part in “Rampart” as a corrupt cop, he deserved at least a nod. Fortunately, he didn't seem to mind it.

Notably absent at the Globes will be “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” with Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock, but, this time, it's not because of a snub: the film screened too late to meet the deadline.

George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Leonardo DiCaprio have also made it in the Best Actor – Drama category.

Some believe this will be Clooney's year, but there are also those who tip the scales in Pitt's favor.

If Ryan Gosling loses out to “Ides of March” co-star Clooney in this category, he still has a chance of taking a statuette home, since he also got nominated for Best Actor – Comedy, for his role in “Crazy Stupid Love.”

In the most important category of this section of the awards show, that of Best Film – Drama, “The Help” will go up against “The Ides of March,” “Moneyball,” “Hugo,” “The Descendants,” and “War Horse.”

Below is the complete list of nominations in film. Check it out, pick your favorites and keep an eye on this space in January to see if they won.
